锦绣缘 ~ Cruel Romance

锦绣缘 ~ Cruel Romance

*Updated video with English Subs

Came across this novel Jin Xiu Yuan (Jin Xiu’s Fate) recently. The filming of the drama is underway and my favourite actress Joe Chen (Qiao En) is starring in it (with Huang Xiao Ming, oh man why not Peter Ho? :x). YAY! I’ll be translating this novel while eagerly anticipating the first episode of the series. Here’s the trailer from youtube!

I’ve translated the novel introduction but do click on this link for a comprehensive summary 😉

Synopsis of Cruel Romance

Extravagant life on the Bund–

Fate has shown its hand, Jin Xiu crossed paths with Zuo Zhen.

He taught her to drink, to dance, the ways of the world

Eventually he succeeded in transforming her into a dance hostess,

and finally she can be by the side of the one she loves.

But–matters of the heart are impossible to dictate!

He, a triad boss with a reign of terror,

fell for a woman wholeheartedly in love with his sworn brother,

this woman who had been single handedly trained by him,

would compel him to make the most painful decision in this lifetime with his life…

    • Hehe alright:) It’s pretty long but here goes!

“I haven’t felt like crying for a long time when the end of filming drew near.

The last time I cried was the year before when it neared the end of musical “The Woman On Top of the Bread Tree”: On the last day of the show, everyone was at the KTV, hugging one another, the turbulent emotions and gratefulness for everyone’s devotion, of course we all went down(drunk) after 2 hours ha!

The interesting thing was that the next day, I remember I was alone packing my luggage in the room then, while packing…I actually burst into tears, to be honest even now I don’t know what caused the tears…then I just felt, can’t take it anymore, I really want to cry~ and then like a child, crying badly…
Just then Ming Zhao “brother” sent me a “Wei Xin”(private message?), he said that he was also packing his luggage, he said that after packing he really felt like crying…
Afterwards I faced the “Wei Xin” and cried out, it was truly uncontrollable, in a hotel room with alone, facing all my hastily packed luggage, crying for almost half an hour~
I said to Ming Zhao “brother”, I don’t know what’s up with me? But I thnk…somewhere in my heart, had been pried open, those days of playing the role of Cheng Yun, time and time again and every moment of standing on the stage with my partners…So it was while I didn’t realise took a spot in my heart and truly lived in it~
Touched my heart, leaving is extremely hard.

I never cried after the filming ended for a show for a long time already, at most I just couldn’t bear to leave but mostly tired, deeply exhausted. In “Jin Xiu Yuan” (Cruel Romance) I had 800 scenes, I remember when we started I said..Omg, close to 800 scenes in 3 months~ when we were done I’d be in state of confusion for sure, wondering how I got through it all~
But here I am…grateful for the director’s speed, firmness and accuracy! Grateful for the actors’ speed, firmness and accuracy! Grateful for the behind the scenes staff for being speedy, firm and accurate!
As for “Xiu Xiu” (her character)…when the director said “Sha Qing” (like end of filming)…stopped in a certain space and time.

I like to play the role of “Xiu Xiu”, whether it was during filming or not, whenever the director or fellow actors shouted…or behind the scenes staff shouted~
      “Xiu Xiu!, Next scene…”

      Because of the happiness.
Because of the happiness, to belong to such a team.

There are many ways to show gratitude, sometimes it feels heavy or light.
So I thought sometimes it’s better to keep my feelings in my heart.
In the environment around where, that part can be controlled by logic, sometimes emotions are carried away by the clouds and the fog~
After all I am an emotional person~

Thank you to all who have participated in “Cruel Romance, Magnificent Adventure”, thank you for your contributions and hard work, thanks for your friendship and your help…
Thank you for giving me such a happy working environment and such beautiful memories…
      Aiya~ Really can’t bear to~I feel like crying already~

Anyway part of being an actor is to constantly face separation.
I will miss everyone, and the time we spent together.
      Bye bye my Xiu Xiu..”

      • A “wei xin” refers to wechat, which is basically the chinese version of wattsapp, so qiao en’s friend sent her a message on wechat 🙂

  7. Wow so Jin Xiu actually transforms into a song hostess in the novel? This seems rather different to the drama, I like it haha, I’m really looking forward to see how the novel plays out now ^_^
Honestly speaking the ending of the drama seemed to so rushed although it still had its sad moments but all actors did such a great job, Joe was spectacular as always and Huang Xiao Ming sure has grown on me too haha
